Peru Mission - Report from Suzie Tweed
Dear Friends and Family,
As you all know, I
spent the last two weeks of Christmas Break in Peru,
helping Childreach Ministries build an orphanage. Those two
weeks were amazing in more ways than I can explain, and
none of it would have been possible if it weren't for your
generosity, thoughts and prayers. For this, I thank you.
During the trip, there literally wasn't
a moment when we couldn't feel the hand of God on us.
Before the trip, the projected amount of money almost
wasn't raised, and several large sums of money arrived at
the last hour, to make our goal exactly. From our long trip
down, to the daily trip on the Pan-American Highway, and
back home again, we were blessed with safety. On the
construction site, it was a true miracle that over fifty
untrained workers using power tools and less-than
conventional construction methods survived with nothing
more than a few cuts and bruises and sore muscles.
The whole construction experience was
far different than anything I had ever experienced;
materials arrived in all shapes and sizes, coming at any
time throughout the week. We definitely had to use a
little on-the-site design freedom, making changes as we
worked, and we ended up not finishing as much of the
orphanage as our original goal. However, looking back on
the progress at the end of each day, we were reminded of
how many other people will be given the opportunity to have
a hand in the construction of this one orphanage. It's
truly God's work to touch so many lives from all over the
world in ways we can't even imagine.
The construction was done every day of
the two weeks except for Sundays, and each day ten of us
had the opportunity to wander through slum villages around
Chilca, Peru, and minister to the people there. With the
help of a translator, a group of us held a Bible School
every day that consisted of door-to-door evangelism, sport
ministry, a bible lesson, craft, and simply spending time
with the Peruvian children. It was easy to see God in the
children's unconditional love towards us; we were complete
strangers, yet the parents were completely trusting, and
the children were instantly attached.
The whole experience to build a home
for these children, and to get to know them on a personal
level was one I will never forget. When Hannah's Hope is
finished, it will make a home for around 35 children, and
hopefully change the lives of countless people involved in
the future.
Once again, I thank you all for your
support and prayers for this project, your donations helped
make Hannah's Hope possible. I've attached a few photos of
the trip, and if you'd like to hear more and stay in touch
with the progress, there are blogs from the whole trip at
the website,

Thank You and God bless,
